Lady Annabella mine Fluorite specimens are amazingly diverse! This mine in Eastgate, Weardale, England is known for its complex system of veins and pockets, yielding a wide variety of Fluorite specimens in many colors, shapes, and displaying different color-change phenomenona. Purple Rain Pocket is connected to the Fairy Holes zone, which is named for a nearby natural cave system; this area normally yields green cubic fluorite with a classic Weardale aesthetic.
The purple cubes range in color from classic green zones to dark steel-lavender to deep royal purple, and fluorescence takes on a grape hue and electric brightness. Like most if not all Lady Annabella specimens, specimens from this pocket fluoresce brightly and also change color under sunlight. These are daylight fluorescent, one of my favorite kinds of magic that certain fluorescent minerals have! This means that simply bringing it outdoors will turn the fluorite a deep purple colors as the suns UV rays are enough to make the crystal fluoresce. Under long wave UV it fluoresces bright blue.
When viewed indoors, it is a beautiful cool shade of dark purple with hints of green. But a different magic unlocks under sunlight: the fluorite is so fluorescent that it changes color in the sun, becoming a vibrant grape shade. Under a blacklight, the cluster glows with amazing electric lavender-blue brightness!
